Liens filed on priest and church after nearly a decade of $125 per day fines for feeding people in need. Fines exceed $450,000 as trial begins January 12, 2026.

This type of move by a commission to try to force out a religious group is against the law. The Florida Legislature and U.S. Congress have both passed laws to protect churches who feed the poor.”

OAKLAND PARK, FL, UNITED STATES, January 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- All Saints Catholic Church in Oakland Park, Florida is asking the public for support through donations, prayer, or both, as the church continues serving meals and offering comfort through an air conditioned and heated church to people in need while facing ongoing code enforcement penalties for a decade.

The City of Oakland Park has fined All Saints Catholic Mission $125 per day for nearly a decade in connection with its feeding ministry after the city amended its zoning code in approximately 2014. Those fines have accumulated to more than $450,000. Liens have been placed not only on the church, but also on Father Robert Caudill (“Father Bob”) personally.

All Saints serves veterans, families, individuals, and anyone experiencing homelessness. The ministry provides daily meals, nourishment and comfort, access to showers, housing support resources, and pastoral counseling.

Father Bob asked people to read this aloud:
“God help us. Send your angels, send your army, and send good people to help and protect this little church in Oakland Park. Lord, cover the poor, the forgotten, and every family and veteran we serve. Soften hearts, protect this mission, and provide a way forward. We are only following the instructions in the Bible, and that is to feed the poor. Help us fulfill Your mission. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Former Broward County Public Defender and WSVN 7 News legal analyst Howard Finkelstein commented on his “Help Me Howard” segment:
“This type of move by a commission to try to force out a religious group is against the law. The Florida Legislature and U.S. Congress have both passed laws to protect churches who feed the poor. By ignoring prior cases, Oakland Park could cost the taxpayers a lot of money if they don’t wipe out the fines.”

Separately, a June 2021 report stated Oakland Park commissioners unanimously approved a $57,272 raise for City Manager David Hebert following a June 16 performance evaluation during Covid. The article reported his base salary was $207,049 prior to the increase, which represented an approximately 28% raise.

The case, identified as CASE NO: CACE 21-19546 (08), is being handled by attorney Peter Mavrick of the Mavrick Law Firm, 1620 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Suite 300, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.

Kris Kosciusko, Executive Producer of Industry Insider Reports, confirmed the story will be covered in a national edition of the TV series. “This case has significant implications. The outcome could set a dangerous legal precedent for how cities change zoning laws and restrict churches or nonprofits,” said Kosciusko.
