SpaceX Reschedules Launch of Amazon's Kuiper KF-02 Mission
“Due to unfavorable recovery weather conditions, Falcon 9's launch of the KF-02 mission is now targeted for tomorrow, August 11,” the company confirmed in a post on X, noting that both the rocket and its payload remain in good condition.
The revised launch window will open at 8:35 a.m. Eastern Time (1235 GMT) on Monday, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
According to Amazon, the decision to postpone stemmed from weather challenges affecting the booster’s planned return, though it also assured that all systems are intact: the launch vehicle and satellite cargo are undamaged and ready for launch.
The KF-02 mission marks the debut flight of the Falcon 9 first stage booster selected for this deployment, SpaceX said. Following stage separation, the booster is expected to land on the droneship "A Shortfall of Gravitas" stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
Once launched, the KF-02 will deploy 24 satellites to support Amazon’s Project Kuiper, an ambitious broadband initiative aiming to build a constellation of over 3,200 satellites in low Earth orbit to provide global internet coverage.
